The Meaning of Physis by D. Myatt (Physis Foundation)

[caption id="attachment_4702" align="aligncenter" width="540"]Apollo with the Solar Disc via Albrecht Durer Apollo with the Solar Disc via Albrecht Durer[/caption]

Physis is a Greek word which can be translated as "Nature" - it
also means the 'natural unfolding' or evolution which occurs in Nature as
well as the 'character' or nature' of a person. In many ways, it is that
harmony or balance which 'holds the cosmos together' in a natural way.
The ancient Greeks had a concept of living and an approach to the
gods which was pagan - they believed that a proper life (I am writing about
pre-Platonic views here) was a balanced one: that the relationship of the
individual to the gods was important. This relationship of the individual
to the gods was important. This relationship was not based on concepts of
sin nor on a morbid denial of life and its pleasures. Rather, it was based
on respect - the individual respected the gods and believed the respect
(and thus personal fortune) of the gods could be obtained or given if the
individual strove to achieve excellence. It was considered unwise to be
excessive - in anything. The Greek mystery cults went further, and believed
life could be enhanced - and immortality attained - by living in a certain
way and performing certain rites. Central also was a pragmatic view - that
the cosmos possessed a natural order which could be understood if one
thought hard enough or observed it for long enough or if one attained an
insight into it.
These things established a framework for understanding genuine
paganism in general - insofar as 'the West' and its psyche is concerned. It
is better to begin in this way, via the ancient Greeks, since the evidence
and the sources are preserved more completely than other 'Western' pagan
tradition. It is unfortunate that most modern pagans derive their
understanding from myths and legends and practices which are often obscure
or incomplete - what is missing is difficult to understand often being
interpreted romantically. Naturally, this approach via the Greeks assumes
that there are similarities between the different forms paganism assumed
among the peoples of the West at various times - that is, that the
variations are different expressions of the same spirit or 'view of the
world', an expression which pre-dated the morally abstract religion of the
Nazarene and extended from the ancient Albion around the time of the
building of Stonehenge to the Anglo-Saxons, the Celts and the Vikings. I
believe this assumption to be a valid one - for what is important are not
the details of the legends or the attributes of the gods or even the
various religious forms and rites, but rather the instinctive apprehension
of life and the cosmos which gave rise to the religious forms of paganism
in the first place: that which is our collective or 'folk' psyche. Thus, we
may say that while the paganism of the ancient Greeks and that of the
Vikings represent or express this psyche, the abstract religion of
Christianity does not.
There is an esoteric tradition which regards ancient Albion (or
rather the civilization of Albion which flourished between c. 5,000 BP and
3,000 BP) as the original home of the god whom the Greeks called Apollo and
thus the inspiration of the Greeks. This tradition - which names the
civilization the 'Hyperborian' in honour of this fact - recounts Albion as
inventing the wheel among other things, including agriculture, and
possessing a knowledge of and skill in astronomy (evident in Stonehenge and
other monuments of the civilization) as well as esoteric crafts. The Druids
are regarded by this tradition of being among the last remants of the
decayed civilization.
Whatever the truth or otherwise of this tradition, I believe the
ancient Greeks give us the most comprehensive information regarding
paganism - or rather, that paganism which is appropriate to those whose
psyche is "Western". [I use this term "Western" with misgivings since today
it generally and unfortunately implies that materialistic power structure
of European and American states, rather than a definite culture. "European"
is no better, and both 'Indo-European' and 'Aryan' are liable to
misinterpretation. By 'West' is meant that culture exemplified by Albion,
ancient Greece and Rome, the Celts, Vikings and so on.]
This ancient Greek foundation gives us two important contributions
missing from the other traditions - what may be called the 'pragmatic' and
the _conscious_ expression of our relationship with the gods. The former is
exemplified in that essentially rational approach to living which is so
typically Greek, the latter in Greek tragedy and some of the pre-Socratic
philosophers.
What this amounts to is nothing really new - just another way of
viewing what esoteric tradition has established, of sorting out the
valuable from the dross, enabling perspective. Essentially, esoteric
tradition (call it 'the Occult' for convenience) maintains that we have
latent abilities and are capable of evolving still further - of developing
higher levels of consciousness. Part of this is in understanding and
mastery of the Occult arts - e.g. like divination and 'magick' - and part
is in developing an empathy or awareness with and of others and the cosmos.
One aspect is the belief that we can attain Immortality - e.g. by alchemy,
be that alchemy a practical one with the production of an Elixir or an
internal one with the production of Adeptship and beyond.
This way means, if its potential is to be fulfilled, a certain way
or ways of living rather than a 'hobby' or an 'interest' or a 'diversion'.
Part of this is an attitude and part of it is observance or participation,
usually by some form of ritual or rite. That is, there is an approach to
life, which may be intuitive - a 'feeling' about the world, and a desire to
do something, participate, or achieve.
Naturally there is in the Occult a confusion and multitude of ways
and systems and beliefs. But most of these, deriving from unclear sources,
have lost (if they ever possessed) the meaning or essence behind the outer
forms: a meaning or essence which the two contributions from the Greeks,
mentioned above, explicate most clearly.
Hitherto, both the dogmatic and the religious approach to the
Occult (evident in the revival of past forms and ways, for example) have
failed because the forms and means chosen have seldom if ever been
conscious. That is, they exist on the unconscious, symbolic level or on the
directly religious one, presuming in the first instance a lack of
self-awareness and in the second instance a faith in arcane religious forms
and/or deities. In brief, the attitude of mind thus cultivated tends
towards uncritical acceptance and 'superstition' - and a lack of real
understanding regarding the relationship between the individual and the
gods.
The realization of the Occult requires a specific way of living -
one that takes the individual away from the modern world with its
abstractions, its beliefs, its dogma, its noise, frenetic pace and crowds.
This way returns individuals to themselves, to confront and understand what
is within, and then having achieved a self-understanding and thus
liberation, to an understanding of 'Nature'/the gods and thus the cosmos.
The attitude of mind required is an openness - an enquiring
approach which combines a pragmatic view with intuition or insight. Such an
attitude may for convenience be called 'Thinking' or 'contemplation' - it
is a reasoned empathy developed by various methods or Occult techniques,
and may be said to represent the essence of paganism, and essence capable
of being apprehended and developed only by the way of living mentioned
above.
Such an understanding as arises from such an attitude is highly
individual - that is, it cannot be constrained within a dogma or form part
of a religious belief. There is thus the development of an entirely new
type of conscious apprehension - a new way of 'Thinking' or being, and thus
a new way of living. Fundamentally, this new understanding is what "Physis"
means - and to achieve this is the aim of a Physis community or foundation.

Wotan

wotan-odin1

"[For an investigation of Wotan’s character] we must go back to the age of myths, which did not explain everything in terms of man and his limited capacities, but sought the deeper cause in the psyche and its autonomous powers. Man’s earliest intuitions personified these powers as gods and described them in the myths with great care and circumstantiality according to their various characters. This could be done the more readily on account of the firmly established primordial types or images which are innate in the unconscious of many races and exercise a direct influence upon them. Because the behavior of a race takes on its specific character from its underlying images, we can speak of an archetype “Wotan.” As an autonomous psychic factor, Wotan produces effects in the collective life of a people and thereby reveals his own nature. For Wotan has a peculiar biology of his own, quite apart from the nature of man. It is only from time to time that individuals fall under the irresistible influence of this unconscious factor. When it is quiescent, one is no more aware of the archetype Wotan than of a latent epilepsy."

THE TALE OF THE VOIVOD DRACULA

Skazanie o Drakule Voevode

1486

Attributed to Fedor Kuricyn
Translated from Russian

In the land of Muntania there was a Christian prince of the Greek faith, by the name of Dracula in Wallachian, and the Devil in ours. His way of life was as evil as his name.

On one occasion there came to him ambassadors sent by the Turkish ruler. Entering and bowing according to their custom, they did not take their hats off their heads. So he asked them: ‘Why do you behave thus, you have come to a great ruler and yet you show me such dishonour?’ And they replied: ‘That is our custom, Sire, and it is observed in our land’. And he said to them: ‘I want to confirm your custom, so that you keep to it resolutely’. And he ordered that their hats should be nailed to their heads with small iron nails. Then he let them go, saying: ‘Go and tell your ruler that he may be used to such dishonour from you, but we are not used to it, so he should not spread such a custom among other kings, who do not want to observe it. Instead let him keep to it at home’.

[caption id="attachment_4612" align="aligncenter" width="479"]940e180150e5f234da3edc9a61d1fc71 Vlad and the three messengers.[/caption]

And the Emperor was made very angry by this and rose with his armies against Dracula, and he came to his land with many men. And Dracula, collecting what armies he had, attacked the Turks at night and killed many of them. But he was unable to win against such great army with such a small number of men, so he turned back.

And he inspected those soldiers who came back with him from the battle. Those who were wounded from the front received great honour and were made knights, but those who had had been wounded from the back were impaled on a stake through their back passage with Dracula saying thus: ‘you are not a man but a woman’. And whenever he went against the Turks he spoke to his armies thus: ‘He who wants to think of death should not come with me, but remain here’. And when the Emperor heard this he went away with great dishonour, having destroyed numerous armies but fearing to go against Dracula.

And the Emperor sent an Ambassador to Dracula asking for tribute. Dracula received him with great honour and showed him all his wealth and said: ‘Not only do I want to give tribute to the Emperor, but I want to go into his service with all my armies and my treasury, and I will serve him, obeying all his orders. Tell your Tsar that when I come to him he should order everyone throughout his land not to harm me or my people; I will want to enter into your Tsar’s service soon, and will myself bring the tribute and come to him.’. And when the Tsar heard from his Ambassador that Dracula wants to enter his service he honoured his ambassador and gave him many gifts. And he was very pleased for he was then at war with Easterners. And he sent out throughout his cities and his lands that when Dracula should come no one should do any evil to Dracula and should give him honour. And Dracula went gathering all his armies and members of the imperial guard accompanied him and gave him much honour. And he spent 5 days travelling in the land and suddenly went back and started to assault cities and villages and he captured and killed many men and other Turks he impaled and others he cut in half and burnt, even including suckling babes. And he didn’t leave anyone. He laid waste the whole land and those who were Christians he brought to his land and settled them there and he took much booty and having returned he honoured the imperial guard and let them go saying: ‘Go and tell your Tsar what you saw. I served him as well as I could and should he want my service again I will want to serve him in the same way to the best of my abilities.’ And the Tsar could do nothing but was conquered with dishonour.

[caption id="attachment_4621" align="aligncenter" width="477"]Vlad admonishes a boyar. Vlad admonishes a boyar[/caption]

And he so hated evil in his land, that whenever someone did evil, a crime or robbery, or lied, or was guilty of an injustice, then he was not allowed to live. Neither great boiars or priests or monks or ordinary people or those owning great wealth could save themselves from death with money, and that is how fearful he was. He had a water source and a well in a certain place and many travellers from many countries came to this well because the water there was cold and sweet. And he placed a great and wondrous golden cup in an empty place by the well so that anyone who wanted to drink the water could drink it with that cup and put it back again. And however much time passed no-one dared to steal the cup.

Once he gave an order throughout the land that anyone old, or incapable, or disabled, or a beggar, should come to see him. And a numberless number of beggars and wanderers gathered expecting great charity from him. And he ordered that they should all be gathered in a large single building built specially for the purpose and he ordered that they should be given enough to eat and drink. And they ate and were happy. And he came to see them himself and said ‘What else do you wish for?’ and they all answered ‘Only God and your Majesty know, oh ruler, so do whatever God suggests to you.’ And he said to them, ‘Do you want me to rid you of sorrow on this earth, so that you will need for nothing?’ And they were expecting something great from him and all said ‘Yes, we do, oh ruler.’, so he ordered the building to be locked up and set alight and all inside it burnt to death. And he said to his boyars ‘You should know why I did this. First of all I did this so that they shouldn’t complain to people, and so that there should be no-one who is a beggar in my land. Instead everyone will be rich. Secondly by my action I freed them from suffering on this earth, and from poverty and from sickness.’

Two Latin monks once came to him from Hungary asking for alms. And he ordered that they each should come to him separately. He called one of them and showed him the numberless number of people impaled on stakes and broken on wheels in the courtyard, and he asked the monk: ‘Have I done well, and who are the people who are on the stakes?’ And the monk replied, ‘No, ruler, you do evil by punishing without mercy, for a ruler should be merciful, and those who are on the stakes are martyrs.’ And Dracula called the other monk and asked him the same thing, and the monk replied ‘You, ruler, have been appointed by God to punish those who do evil and to favour those who do good, and these people did evil and have received their just reward.’ So Dracula called the first monk and said to him: ‘Why do you wander from your monastery and your cell, from ruler to ruler, without knowing anything. You have just said that these are martyrs and I want to make you a martyr too, so that you shall be a martyr with them.’ And he ordered that the monk should be impaled on the stake from behind and ordered that the other monk should be given 50 ducats of gold, saying ‘You are a wise man’, and he ordered that the monk should be driven with honour in a carriage to the Hungarian land.

One day a certain foreign merchant came from Hungary to his city and as the law required he left his cart on the street in front of a house and all his goods were in the cart, and he himself slept in the house. And someone came and stole 160 ducats of gold from the cart and the merchant came to Dracula and told him about the disappearance of the gold, and Dracula said to him: ‘Go back and you will find the gold tonight.’ And he ordered that the thief should be sought throughout the city, saying: ‘If the thief is not found, then I will destroy the whole city’ and he ordered that his own gold should be placed on the carriage at night with one gold ducat added. When the merchant got up and found the gold and counted it once and twice and found an extra gold ducat he went to Dracula saying ‘Sire, I found the gold, but this gold ducat is not mine, it is an extra one.’ And then they brought the thief with the gold and Dracula said to the merchant ‘Go with peace. If you hadn’t told me that you had the gold, I would have been ready to impale you together with this thief.’

And if any woman committed adultery away from her husband, he ordered that her private parts should be cut out, and her skin should be stripped off her body. And than she would be tied naked and her skin hung on a pillar in the middle of the city and the market. And virgins who did not keep their virginity and widows guilty of the same sometimes had their breasts cut off, and sometimes they had the skin skinned from their private parts, and a heated iron poker would be plunged into the womаn’s private parts until it came out of her mouth, and thus she would stand, naked, tied to a pillar until her flesh and bones fell apart or were eaten by birds.

One day Dracula was travelling on a journey and he saw a certain poor man in a worn and torn shirt. And he asked him: ‘Do you have a wife?’ and the man replied ‘I have, Sire’, so then he responded, ‘Bring me to your house so that I can see her’, and he saw that the wife was young and healthy and he asked her husband ‘Have you not sowed any flax?’ and he responded, ‘Sire, I have much flax’, and he showed him much flax. And then Dracula told the wife, ‘So why are you lazy and do not care for your husband? He must sow and plough and look after you, so you must make your husband clothes which are light and nice - and you do not even want to make him a shirt, though you are healthy in your body. You are guilty, not your husband. If your husband had not sown flax then he would have been guilty.’ So he ordered that her hands be cut off and her body be impaled.

Vlad-III-The-Impaler-Wood-Cutting-Vlad-and-Victims

Once he lunched under the bodies of dead people put on stakes and there were many of them around his table, but he ate among them and enjoyed his meal. His servant who put the food before him could not stand the smell and held his nose and inclined his head, and Dracula asked him ‘Why are you doing that?’ and the servant responded, ‘Sire, I cannot bear the smell’. So Dracula ordered him to be impaled too, saying: ‘The smell will not reach you now that you are impaled on a high stake.’

Once the Hungarian King Matthias sent an ambassador to him of high rank, born in Poland. He ordered the ambassador to sit with him at lunch among the bodies, and before him there was a very fine, tall and gold-covered stake. And Dracula asked the ambassador ‘Why did I make this stake, tell me?’ and the ambassador was much afeared and said ‘Sire, it seems to me that some great man is guilty before you and you want to give him an honoured death greater than that for others’ and Dracula said: ‘You are right. You are the great envoy of a great ruler, so I made this stake for you.’ And the asmbassador responded ‘Sire, if I have done something which deserves death, do as you wish, for you are a just judge. You are not guilty of my death, but I am.’ And Dracula laughed and said, ‘If you had not responded thus, you would definitely have been on this stake’ and he honoured him greatly and gave him gifts and let him go, saying ‘You should go on embassies from great rulers to other rulers, for you have been taught how to speak with great rulers. Envoys should not dare to do anything without having first been taught to speak to great rulers.’

Such was Dracula’s custom. When an ambassador from an Emperor or a King came to him who wasn’t refined and could not respond to his tricky speeches then he would be impaled with the words ‘Not I am guilty of your death, but either your ruler or you yourself, so you can’t say anything evil against me. If your ruler, being intelligent, sent you to me knowing that you were of little brain and not well-taught, then your ruler killed you. If you yourself dared to go on an embassy without having learnt all that is necessary, then you yourself have killed yourself.’ And that is why he had a high stake erected and gilded for ambassadors, and on these he impaled them and then he sent back the words of the ambassador’s master, adding that the king should not have sent someone of little brain and little learning in ambassadorial matters to a ruler of great intelligence.

His craftsmen made him iron barrels which he filled with gold and put them in the river, and he ordered that the masters should be executed so that no-one should know what he did, only the devil who shared his name could know.

Once the Hungarian King Matthias went against him in war. And he went against him and met him and they both clashed and Dracula was seized alive having been betrayed by his own men. And he was brought to the King and it was ordered that he should thrown into prison. And he was imprisoned in Viszegrad on the Danube above Buda for twelve years. And another ruler was appointed to rule the Muntanian land.

And when that ruler died the King sent to Dracula in prison asking whether he wanted to be the ruler of the Muntainian land as before, and if he does he must convert to the Latin faith. And if he does not convert to the Latin faith than he will die in prison.

And Dracula fell for the sweetness of the temporal world instead of the infinite and eternal world and he fell away from orthodoxy and departed from truth and he left light for an adopted darkness. Alas, he couldn’t bear the temporary troubles of the prison and instead prepared himself for eternal punishment by leaving our orthodox faith and adopting the Latin falsehood. And the King not only made him ruler of Muntania but also gave him his own sister as wife and Dracula had two sons from her. And he lived a little over ten years and died in heresy.

They say that when he was in prison he didn’t forget his evil habits, but he caught mice and bought birds in the market and then he executed them, some by impaling them on stakes, others by beheading, and from some others he took the feathers off before letting them go. And he learnt how to sew and thus he kept himself alive in the prison.

When the King took him from the prison, he brought him to Buda and gave him a house in Pecs opposite Buda. But even before he had gone to the King a certain evildoer came to his house and hid and those who were looking for him came and started to look for him and found him. And Dracula rose and took up his sword, jumped off his bed and cut of the head of the guard who held the evildoer and let the evildoer go. And the others ran away and they came to the chief and told him what happened and the chief with his officials went to the King complaining about Dracula. And the King sent to him asking: ‘Why did you do this evil?’ and he responded thus: ‘I didn’t do any evil, he killed himself. Anyone who attacks in a house of a great ruler will die thus. If you had come to me and found the evildoer in my house I would have either given him to you or would have asked for him to be reprieved.’ When the King was told this he started to laugh and was amazed at Dracula’s heart.

[caption id="attachment_4625" align="aligncenter" width="600"]vlad_tepes_tomb_by_slickdj3 Dracula's tomb in Snagov island's monastery https://slickdj3.deviantart.com/[/caption]

And this was Dracula’s end. He lived in the Muntanian land and Turks came to his land and started to seize it and he attacked them and the Turks fled and the armies of Dracula started to kill them without mercy and chased them out. And Dracula was so happy he rushed to the top of the hill to see how the Turks were being punished, and he got separated from his army and those who were near him thought that he was a Turk and one of them hit him with a spear. When he saw that he was being killed by his own people, he killed five of his killers with his sword and was killed with many spears and thus he died.

And the King took his sister and the two sons to the Hungarian land to Buda and one of the sons lives with the King’s son and the other was with the Bishop of Varad and died while we were there, and I saw the third son, the oldest, called Mikhail, there in Buda, he had fled from the Turkish Emperor to the King. And even before he had married, Dracula had put him to live with a certain female. And Stephen of Moldavia at the King’s request appointed in the Muntanian land a certain ruler’s son by the name of Vlad and this Vlad was a monk in his youth and then a priest and then an abbot in a monastery and then he took off the tonsure and became a ruler and married, and he took as his wife the wife of the ruler who succeeded Dracula and who shortly after was attacked and killed by Stephen of Wallachia. And now Vlad is the voevoda in Muntania, the Vlad who was the monk and an abbot.

In the year 6994, February 13th this was written earlier and then again in the year 6998 January 28th it was rewritten a second time by me, sinful Efrosin.

Sun worship

tumblr_nrn2g2fLCj1qg48x7o1_540

The sun has been revered as a deity by a variety of peoples. However, it is clear that it was not only as a beneficial, but also as a dreaded and destructive power, that this heavenly body was adored in hot countries. So in ancient Egypt the sun god Rah (or Amon-Rah)was represented by a man bearing a sun disc on his head, which was surmounted by the Uraeus-snake. The reptile symbolizing the withering effect of the sun often has been used in the Near East. Quite different was the situation in Central and Northern Europe, where a sufficient amount of sunshine was essential for the ripening of crops. Here the sun was worshipped as a beneficial power as soon as agriculture became the principal means of support during the Neolithic period (+/- 4000 - 2000 BCI).

Consequently it was the ancient Indogermans, originally centered in the basin of the Danube, who spread its cult throughout Europe and even into other parts of the world. How firmly the befief in the creative power of the sun was rooted in the minds of these early Nordics becomes clear when we look at the ruins of the biggest megatithic monuments of Northern Europe, the sun sanctuary of Stonehenge.

stonehenge-1442245

Of course it is unnecessary here to desctibe in detail this gigantic monument the remains of which command, since prehistoric times, the Salisbury Plain in Southern England. The visitor wonders how it was possible to transport and set up the enormous blocks of stone the majority of which had been hewn, as modern research has proven, from the rocks of the Prescelly Chain in South Wales, a distance of 274 km measured along the overland route that was in all probability followed. What people erected this imposing monument and what was its purpose?

The scientific investigation of its ruins, which was carried through in recent times, has made it possible to answer both questions. The sanctuary was undoubtedly dedicated to the worship of the Sun as is proven by the fact that the line from the middle of the so-called "altar stone", lying in its center, to the "Hele Stone" at the entrance, is directed to the point in the NE where the sun rose on midsummer day.

According to the archaeologists there were three building periods, the first of which is dated by means of a radio-carbon test, at about 1840 BCI. Recently a number of drawings of Mycenean daggers and flanged axes were detected on some of the stones, and it is supposed that the final completion of the sanctuary, about 1700 BCI, took place under the direction of an architect from the Greek town of Mycenae.

However, its construction is ascribed to the so-called Bellbeaker Folk whose graves, known as the 'round barrows', abound in the vicinity of the monument.

This people whose original habitat lay in Central Spain spread over Europe at the beginning of the second millennium BCI, diffusing at the same time the knowledge of the first metals: copper and bronze. They reached Britain in two successive waves, the first coming from the Netherlands, the second from the western parts of Germany (about 1700 BCI).

In both countries they had mixed with elements of another people, the Indogermanic (Indo-European) Battle Axe People, whose original fatherland lay in Saxony and Thuringia. The amalgamation of both peoples makes understandable why the skeletons which have been unearthed from the round barrows belong partly to the Faelian, partly to the Nordic type, and why copper daggers as well as stone hammers were found in them.

That it was the Nordic element of the Beaker Folk that introduced the worship of the sun in Britain is admitted by one leading English archaeologist in the forllowing words: "So it was the strong Indo-European element infused into our Beaker culture by the Battle Axe Warriors which gave its religion this skyward trend. We are witnessing the triumph of a more barbaric Zeus over the ancient Earth Mother dear to the Neolithic peasantry, the goddess whom they had brought with them from the centers of her fertile power in the Mediterranean and the Near East. "

To make it clear that this replacement of one religion by another was the consequence, not of a gradual evolution, but of an invasion, we must cast a glance at the Scandinavia of the Bronze Age. There, on the rock engravings of Bohuslan in Southern Sweden, are to be seen ships bearing a sun disc and manned by men who swing battle axes; winged horses, concentric circles, spirals, wheel crosses and other symbols of the sun can also be seen.

The horses are destined to pull the sun chariot along the sky in day time, which reminds us of the ancient myth of Phaeton; a ship was thought to transport the sun through the underworld back to the East at night. A slightly different version of the same idea is well-known from the Norse legends.

To the same Nordic culture belong bronze razors adorned with a sun wheel or the head of a horse. From a later phase of the Bronze Age dates the famoussun chariot of Trundholm, a magnificent testimony to the artistic taste and professional skill of the old Nordics.

Greek God Helios Riding in Chariot

With all the Indogermanic peoples we find at the dawn of history the worship of heaven gods: Dyas piter with the Aryan Indians, Ahura mazda with the Persians, Papios with the Scythians, Zeus with the Germans and Dasjbog with the Slavs. However, the Greek Phoibos Apollo (i.e. "the radiant" Apollo), the Roman Sol invictus (the unconquered sun) and the Persian and Mitannian Mithra(s) remained genuine sun gods. The anthropomorphic (humanized) character these gods had assumed in the course of time is a late development which might be considered a degeneration.

How far the sun worship had spread during the Bronze Age becomes clear when we look at three countries that lie far apart: Peru, Egypt and Palestine. In the empire of the Inca's the sun was adored in the form of a golden disc, surrounded by beams. Its principal festival was that of the winter solstice, on June 21.

The Incas (which were an aristocratic leading class among the mongolian American Indians) are described by a Spanish author as of a white complexion with hair that was as blond as ripened wheat. Of one of their forbears, Vicacocha Inca, who was described as a blond and bearded man of white complexion, the first Spaniards were told that he had conquered the land coming from the North, and later fled overseas having suffered a crushing defeat. According to Thor Heyerdahl, he reached Polynesia where ancient legends speak of him as Kon-Tiki. All these facts and many more make it possible that sun worship was imported into Peru by immigrants from Europe.

We know today that not only the Vikings reached America before Columbus, but that also many years previous peoples from North Africa (ruled and occupied by a Nordic upper class) could cross the ocean in primitive but sea-worthy vessels.

With regard to Egypt it is generally known that the pharaoh Amenophis IV (1375-1358 BCI) tried to introduce a monotheistic religion by declaring the sun god Aten the only god, while he renamed himself Akhenaten (i.e. glory of the sun disc). The historians usually omit the fact that this pharaoh was in all probability, just as his father Amenophis III, the son of a Mitannian princess as in portraits he appears as a Nordic.

The Mitanni were ati Aryan people who had founded a mighty empire in Northern Syria. Also in this case the connection between culture and race is apparent. Another religious reform, but in the opposite direction, was carried through in 622 BC in the kingdom of Judah by King Josias. Among other cults, sun wlorship was suppressed by him in a barbaric and bloody manner. It is very remarkable when we read in II Kings 23:11 "And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun... and burned the chariot of the sun with fire". Does not this text remind us of the sun chariot of Trundholm?

Sun worship belongs to the sunken world of the Northern Bronze Age, the culture that was destroyed by the nature catastrophes of about 1220 BCI. With the Indogermanic religions of later times it has in common its character of nature worship. To the elrements of the former cult that submerged into christianization among the Teutons belong the feasts of the summer and winter solstices, but also a number of symbols such as the wheel cross and the swastika. It may be that the christian mode of praying with closed eyes is atso a relic of the religion of our forbears as it is impossible to look at the sun with your eyes fully open.

Why Do We Oppose the Jews? by Joseph Goebbels

tumblr_ngxqrsKRyz1tmsr3yo1_500

We oppose the Jews because we are defending the freedom of the German people. The Jew is the cause and beneficiary of our slavery. He has misused the social misery of the broad masses to deepen the dreadful split between the right and left of our people, to divide Germany into two halves thereby concealing the true reason for the loss of the Great War and falsifying the nature of the revolution.

The Jew has no interest in solving the German question. He cannot have such an interest. He depends on it remaining unsolved. If the German people formed a united community and won back its freedom, there would be no place any longer for the Jew. His hand is strongest when a people lives in domestic and international slavery, not when it is free, industrious, self-aware and determined. The Jew caused our problems, and lives from them.

That is why we oppose the Jew as nationalists and as socialists. He has ruined our race, corrupted our morals, hollowed out our customs and broken our strength. We owe it to him that we today are the Pariah of the world. He was the leper among as long as we were German. When we forgot our German nature, he triumphed over us and our future.

The Jew is the plastic demon of decomposition. Where he finds filth and decay, he surfaces and begins his butcher’s work among the nations. He hides behind a mask and presents himself as a friend to his victims, and before they know it he has broken their neck.

The Jew is uncreative. He produces nothing, he only haggles with products. With rags, clothing, pictures, jewels, grain, stocks, cures, peoples and states. He has somehow stolen everything he deals in. When he attacks a state he is a revolutionary. As soon as he holds power, he preaches peace and order so that he can devour his conquests in comfort.

What does anti-Semitism have to do with socialism? I would put the question this way: What does the Jew have to do with socialism? Socialism has to do with labor. When did one ever see him working instead of plundering, stealing and living from the sweat of others? As socialists we are opponents of the Jews because we see in the Hebrews the incarnation of capitalism, of the misuse of the nation’s goods.

What does anti-Semitism have to do with nationalism? I would put the question this way: What does the Jew have to do with nationalism? Nationalism has to do with blood and race. The Jew is the enemy and destroyer of the purity of blood, the conscious destroyer of our race. As nationalists we oppose the Jews because we see the Hebrews as the eternal enemy of our national honor and of our national freedom.

But the Jew, after all, is also a human being. Certainly, none of us doubts that. We only doubt that he is a decent human being. He does not get along with us. He lives by other laws than we do. The fact that he is a human being is not sufficient reason for us to allow him to subject us in inhumane ways. He may be a human being — but what kind of a human being is he! If someone slaps your mother in the face, do you say: “Thank you! He is after all a human being!” That is not a human being, it is a monster. Yet how much worse has the Jew done to our mother Germany, and is still doing today!

There are also white Jews. True, there are scoundrels among us, even though they are Germans, who act in immoral ways against their own racial and blood comrades. But why do we call them white Jews? You use the term to describe something inferior and contemptible. Just as we do. Why do you ask us why we oppose the Jews when you without knowing it are one too?

Anti-Semitism is not Christian. That means that it is Christian to allow the Jews to go on as they are, stripping the skin from our bodies and mocking us. To be a Christian means to love one’s neighbor as oneself! My neighbor is my racial and blood brother. If I love him, I have to hate his enemies. He who thinks German must despise the Jews. The one requires the other.

Christ himself saw that love did not always work. When he found the moneychangers in the temple, he did not say: “Children, love one another!” He took up a whip and drove them out.

We oppose the Jews because we affirm the German people. The Jew is our greatest misfortune.

It is not true that we eat Jews for breakfast.

It is true that slowly but surely, he is stealing all that we have.

Things would be different if we behaved as Germans.

Poison of psychology

tumblr_omyaoka0HQ1uaxri9o1_1280

“A thousand years of wars consolidated the West; a century of psychology has reduced it to the bitter end.”

— Emil Cioran

Lucifer arises!

"Few men will anything very strongly, and out of these few, only a tiny minority are capable of combining strength of will with unwavering continuity. Most human beings are spasmodic and intermittent creatures, who like above everything the pleasures of mental indolence. “It is for this reason,” says Bryce, “that a strenuous and unwavering will sometimes becomes so tremendous a power, almost a hypnotic force.” Lucifer is the highest mythological incarnation of this intense personal will, and the great men who have embodied it upon the stage of history participate, to some extent, in his satanic strength and magnificence. It is because of this strength and magnificence, so very different from our own weakness and mental squalor, that we continue to hark back nostalgically to the biographies of such men as Alexander, Caesar, Napoleon, and that, as each new imitator of Lucifer arises, we prostrate ourselves before him, begging him to save us."
